1. Do you have any advice on choosing academic programs and careers for later success after school?

Try to do your research on careers, especially the non-common ones and talk to other WUSC students in that field a head of time before committing.

2. How can new students cope with loneliness and feeling out of place when they first arrive in Canada?

I was lucky to have had a very supportive group when I arrived. Calling back home whenever helps a lot too.

3. Seeing how credit scores are important in Canada, do you have any advice on managing money or building up a credit profile?

Use your credit card(s) for small purchases and make sure you pay the full balance or at least cover the minimum due.

4.  Do you have any ideas on how new students can manage expectations from friends and family back home?

Don’t promise people things before you get to Canada. Second, be honest with them and tell them your situation when you get here especially when you are tight on money and time. Your close friends and family will understand.

5. If you can reflect on your personal journey, were your aspirations met? What would you do differently if you were to start over again in Canada

My aspirations are somewhat met. I am happy with my choice of the program. If I were to start over, I would interact more with my classmates and professors just to have that network of people.
